LanMan service stalls

I am using RC1 and having trouble with startup. Booting the computer takes
more than 10 minutes. Fortunately I am able to crank up Task Manager in that
time, where I noticed that the 'server' service is stalling for a long time
before it loads. I confirmed this by disabling the service, after which the
computer starts up normally.
I haven't seen any reports in these newsgroups about this issue.
Any idea what might be the cause of this?

Vista handles passwords in a higher security way than XP does, is it
possible you have network shares mapped to your Vista box? If so Vista could
be failing to send the passwords in a way acceptable to your other devices.

Thanks David, this might be part of the issue. We have a windows server 2003
server, with - obviously - several shares. The computer that stalls also has
a number of shares. However one other computer that is running RC1 - being my
notebook - also has shares and does not stall when booted.
Both machines were upgraded from Windows XP SP2, although the stalling
computer was upgraded form Pro and the notebook from Home.

Another problem, possibly related, is that I am not able to connect to the
printer shares on the stalling computer. The files shares work just fine, in
every direction.

Any more help would be sincerely appreciated.

Marcel

Oh, and I forgot to tell that starting the server service - and the depending
'computer browser' service - after the computer has fully booted, takes just
the mere seconds that it should.

And in my previous message I wrote that I couldn't print from the server to
the stalling computer. Well, of course I forgot to start the server service
by hand, as I usually do. :-P
Printing from server 2003 to stalling Vista: ok
Printing from notebook Vista to stalling Vista: nope.
