The sleep option under plugged in is greyed out. That same option is
functional under battery. I have checked all options in the advanced settings
and they too do not permit a setting for sleep on plugged in mode.

You either need to install the latest graphics drivers, chipset drivers, or
both. Go to the manufacturer's website of the computer to get them. If
your computer is a self-built PC, you will need to go to the motherboard's
and graphics card's respective websites for them.
