PC-cillin's antivirus program seems to hog the computer for the first 90
seconds or so after startup. It is so bad that one cannot even get Task
Manager to run until PC-cillin has reduced its load. A couple of other
programs fail because they cannot start in a reasonable time. Has anyone else
suffered this annoyance too?

I find PCcillan slow to load at first I thought it was something Vista was
trying to load but then hovered over the icon in the taskbar and realised it
was Trend loading :( I only have the minimal install but it does seem to hold
things back. Vista boots fine but trend holds things up after that. I don't
like security suites & this confirms it to me. It doesn't even check for
updates while loading as I do this myself after it loads.
AVG was faster although it has the problem with not being able to get the
database otherwise I would have this installed until NOD is compatible with
Vista.

AVG runs fine both in 5600 and in 5728. Turn UAP off and disable Defender.
Get something that tells you what they do instead, like AdAware and
Spyblaster, both free. And keep your fingers crossed Zone Labs comes out with
something Vista Compatible soon.......

When I first came across the AVG issue I did stop uisng UAC but after reading
so much advice on the importance of UAC especially when we can't use our
normal security plus the fact services run at a lower level with UAC enabled
I had to start using it again. AVG at first thought i was the only one with
the issue and although they went through everything to help they could not
re-produce it - now they know it wasn't just me.

I am considering installing 5728 over the weekend so will have to make a
decision on which AV - would love to use AVG if I could keep UAC enabled. I
am not that keen on Defender so could live without this but dilemma about UAC
as last advice to me was to keep this enabled.

I watched Trend loading last night and it really is long even when I have
features of this disabled - dread to think how long everything would take to
load!
