somehow I got a bunch of file icons from my desktop that are also now showing
on my taskbar (shortcuts to excel files, documents folder, etc). If i right
click to delete from the taskbar, it also deletes the file from desktop. How
do I get rid of them from taskbar without impacting desktop?

Hi Jimmj1210,

It may have been added as a toolbar on the taskbar. This tutorial will
show you how to remove it without deleting your files if this is the
case.
