CHKDSK Freeze

When I booted up today, CHKDSK began running, but it freezes every time
it gets to 6%.  I have shut down and unplugged and restarted several
times, but it always freezes there.  I can't do anything once that
happens, except turn it off.

I have tried (as the screen directs) to cancel the check by "hitting
any key" but nothing happens, no mater which keey or how many of them I
hit.

I even left the computer for two hours at 6%, hoping it was just
checking slow.  But after two hours, it's still at 6%.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium and a fairly new HP laptop - never
had this problem before this morning.

Is there any way to get around this freeze?

Thanks for any help!

Gayle

It is under Warranty; contact HP asap.
