Hi

I've got Compaq Presario running on Windows Vista Basic. I installed HP
Deskjet 3820 Printer successfully but it will not print.

Problem is that when I click on "Print" button I get notification that the
document was sent to the printer but it does not print. Interesting thing is
that when I try to access printer properities it does not allow me to do so -
it just flashes.

I once succeeded in printing out test or demo page but nothing else will
print.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

I will help you resolve your issue.

Here is the solution...

1.  Connect the printer to your computer.

2.  Click on Start button >> Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Printers.

3.  Click Add a printer.

4.  In the Add Printer Wizard, select Add a local printer.

5. Select the Use an existing port check box.

6. In the Use an existing port drop-down list, select USB001 virtual printer
port and then click Next.

7.  On the Install the printer driver page, select the printer manufacturer
HP (not Hewlett-Packard)  and the printer name Deskjet 970cse, and then click
Next.

8. Select "Replace the current driver" and click Next and then Finish.

I hope, this should resolve the issue.

Please get back to me if the issue persists...

I'll be waiting for your response....

Thank you very much it was helpful and I really appreciate your assistance.

I realized myself that problem was in driver due to time difference between
printer (XP) and PC (Vista) and sought to find replacement. However, HP
website suggested that I should install HP Photosmart Basic Print Driver/HP
Photosmart 7150 Printer. That didn’t help as my printer printed out blank
pages. This one is great and it works.

What (if anything) does the HP Printing Diagnostic test tell you?
