Hi,

my home server runs 64-bit Vista, and the older clients have 32-bit XP.

The printer is hp photosmart 7960, connected via USB cable to the server.

How do I print from the 32-bit XP client to the printer in 64-bit Vista
server?

The only answer from hp customer service was that "by a jetdirect print
server".

Printer drivers from hp are monolithing exe file, and do not open with e.g.
winzip.

This is a real pain that I came across too! What you need to do is download
the 32- bit driver, install it on one of the 32-bit systems, then (on your
64 bit system) add the driver for the 32 systems by pointing to the relevant
32-bit directory contents (probably have to copy them to the 64 bit system
first). You can then uninstall the 32-bit driver (and whatever else it
installed) from the 32 bit system. Then you can install the printer on each
of the 32-bit systems as you would normally expect to.

On the 64 bit Server..... From the Control Panel, Printers, Right Click on
the printer in question, in Properties, Sharing, ensure you add the 32 bit
drivers to the Server.

Try clicking "Install additional drivers" and select XP.
