Trying to get the printer to print. Usb connection to new laptop. Drivers are
found and if I go to Cntrl Pnl/Printers it shows up as default printer. When
trying to print, print status shows printer error. The unit will scan from
the laptop. HP site says latest drivers are on the Vista disk. 3 hours with
HP rep got me nowhere

I got similar problem with the Scan button on the HP Photosmart C4385 and
C4280. They do not work. When I press the Scan button, it generates an Error
Message.
The printers would scan using the Windows Vista Fax-Scan software, but not
the physical Scan button built on them. In your email you say that the
printer "will scan from the laptop". I wonder if your HP printer only scan
from the laptop and not when the Scan button on the printer is pressed.
I also spent around 5 hours with HP technicians and the buttons did not
work. They should because the printers carry the logo Vista Certified.
In the HP website I found the website below that states the incompatibility
between Vista and HP drives. What I do not know is if it is a general
incompatibility or only with my PC Tablet which is Toshiba M400-ST4001, Vista
Ultimate, 4GbRAM. All the connections were made via USB only (I did not dare
to try the wireless capabilities of the Photosmart C4385.)
My general impression trying to get some help form HP is that there is
something "fishy"  that is not disclosed to the buyers, the
incompatibilities. What goes against the label that these printers show"
Vista Certified".
The website is:
