Registry hack to change the modem init string?

Seems that there is no option for specifying my own modem commands via
Vi$ta's Fax and Scan center.....

No, but you can add them through 'Control Panel|Phone and Modem
Options|Modems|Properties|Advanced'.

But then they get applied to the modem for
each and every app that uses it...

used to be you could spec the AT commands for
a *specific* dial up connection...

Micro$oft's Fax & Scan basically generalized everything.... ;)
