I have 3 users who share 3 different HP printers. We are running into an
issue where the driver requires a reinstallation from our print server out of
the blue. When this happens all 3 printers go offline(Waiting for driver
update) and none of them can print to any of the printers. Once one of them
goes through the process of installing the driver it gives an error msg about
not being able to load the driver then works. Sometimes it will go for a
month, other times it will go for a few days between procedures. I am at a
loss.

What OS is the print server running?
Check the file dates in \system32\spool\drivers
If anything is updated on the server, the clients machine will be out of
sync with the server and go into the Update state.
Here's some documentation on the security policy regarding silently updating
the clients (XP behavior) and how to configure the policy for your need.

Look on the HP website for your Specific HP Printers and see if there is an
update/fix for just this problem. There is one for some that sounds similar --
that the printer keeps on unistalling itself.
