Has anybody noticed that Trend has updated their Beta suite and it now does
not expire untill 12-31-06 (was originally going to expire the end of
Octiober). It supposedly works with any version of Vista and is now version
14.56 (used to be 14.55). I like OneCare Beta but there are a lot of people
who used Trend which did not work with RC2 so this should make them happy.
Just wanted to give a "heads up".

When was the extended version posted as I installed Trend last week with the
RC1 tag on it but my expiry shows 31st October. I am downloading the version
on the server atm but by all appearance it looks to be the one I installed
last week.
Not too sure if I would have to uninstall then install this one to get the
extended date. Files downloaded and both show same versions.

I was going to try One Care but was wondering if the constant link would
slow down browsing. Would much prefer my choice of AV was compatible but it
isn't yet.

FYI you have to disable onecare firewall to allow the network to work and
then works fine with windows firewall enabled hopefully this will be fixed in
the next version of onecare

Thank you k_fonda. I just happened to notice that my expiration does say
12/31/06. :~)

When I installed Vista Beta, it indeed was 10/31/06.

I noticed the 14.57 upgrade on Trend's beta site as well and upgraded last
night.  My previous 14.56 version extended to 12/31/06 (out of nowhere) as
does 14.57.1007.   It was a relatively painless install (it had to uninstall
14.56 & reboot) and the Trend site says some bugs are fixed so if you're
gonna use beta, might as well use the latest.   The only sporadic problem I
ever had with 14.56 was it wouldn't always update properly, but I could
tinker around and fix it, but even that hasn't happened in a while.   Also,
it may be my imagination, but I ran a full scan with 14.57 last night and it
seemed to be quite a bit faster.  Trend seems to have a winner here.   The
only thing I'd like to see if they decide to merge their standalone spyware
version in with the suite as it was more powerful, faster and caught more
spyware.   This was pre-Vista, so we'll see if they will (or already did).
Also, I'm running on build 5728 without issues with Trend.
