I am unable to upgrade from Vista Beta 2 to RC1 because of the following
error message that cancels the install:

Windows installation cannot continue because a required driver could not be
installed.

I have done everything from unplugging all USB devices and physicially
removing all unnecessary PCI cards with no success.  Any thoughts?

I tried an upgrade similar to the one you described on one of my computers
and a clean install on the other. The clean install went well, the upgrade
had so many problems I simply wiped it out with a clean install. I had put
anything "important" in a different partition.
