I have tired multiple times to install Vista but every time it freezes at either the first boot loading screen or ar completing installation, I even let it sit for 24 hrs to no avail. I shut down the computer and it boots to the normal load screen but I get "an unexpected restart" error. I have disabled Audio, USB, Serial, and Networks in the BIOS, and it changes nothing. RC1 looped at completing installation. Attempts to close it were answered with threats of the PC becoming unuseable. After 22 hours I pulled the plug. The second attempt was successful. The first was an upgrade from WinXP. I reburned the DVD at the slower speed using one of the recommended programs (can't remember which), but I also follwed the advice of some other post I had read. He recommended copying the entire DVD to a directory on the hard drive and running the upgrade from there (BUT ALSO KEEP THE DVD in the drive at the same time). It worked like a champ. I even tried to install the Beta2 version then use the clean install option with "online update" to install RC1. Not to avail. Here is what seemed to help. I was doing the installation while the computer was connected to the net. I removed the Cat5 cable and also checked off the "automatic online activation" option.
