Thanks, tried that didn't make any difference. I have had both Win 98 and XP
on the machine and have never had that message before.

Pranav,

I feel your pain.  I have RC1 5728 and was never able to get the nice
Windows Mobile screen that you see in some posts and was ready to give up.
I would up making sure I didn't have the old ActiveSync files in the
WindowsMobile Directory leftover (just a search by date).   I eventually
hooked it up and ran ceappmgr from the WindowsMobile directory (after my
device was recognized) and then ran ActiveSync (including hitting sync) on my
PDA running the latest MS Mobile and it worked.   I still didn't get the nice
Vista screen I expected, but I was able to sycn with Outlook cleanly.   Hope
this helps you, but I'd also like to know how to get the "True" Vista mobile
screen up.
Good luck

I had the same problem.  I have vista ultimate x64 installed.  I had the
problem with mobile device center beta 3 x86.  So, for yucks, i installed the
amd64 one.  It went further and looks to be installed.  I get the icon in
control panel.
