How does one set, or limit the size of the System Restore folder?

Hello.

I am almost certain that you can not set the size, your options are to
disable it and use no space or enable it and then it uses at least 300MB of
free space on each hard disk and up to 15% of the size of each hard disk
that has it is turned on.

You can do this using vssadmin. Check out our recent blog post on this:

Miss-information:

To make it even simpler you can set and/or limit the size of the System
Restore by right clicking Command Prompt and choosing Run as administrator
and then write: "vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /For=C:
/MaxSize=300MB" (note that C is for the C drive and the 300MB size is
something you can change) (i am not sure if you can change only the size of
the system restore and not the volume shadow copy, perhaps jill might know)

   Jill:

Great blog and thanks for the reply. I was not able to se the minimum size
to less then 300MB ;(

Do you know if there is a way to customize the size for Volume Shadow Copies
and then System Restore seperately or do they both use the same space?
