Uninstalling Vista - how to do it successfully?

How can I uninstall Visa Enterprise edition.  It is nothing but a pain as
there are no drivers available for most peripherals.

I have formatted the hard drive and reloaded XP Pro but it keeps booting up
in Vista and seems to ignore what I had done.

???
