Guys now downloaded and installed the new test build but the activation
fails asking for a new key to be tried.

As we only have a limited number of keys to request what is the best action
to take?

Go to Connect - click on Downloads - then Request New Key - you have to
generate one for yourself (saves Wendy a job!) - you should be able to
activate then.

There's also an FAQ on Connect for issues such as this :o)

Yeah but as we can only have three keys and one was used on the prior
build, one already used for this build, so if we request another that the
limit gone :(

Don't worry about licensing at the moment... Vista is only in beta still so
you should be able to keep requesting keys again and again. If the worst
comes to the worst, email the beta team. Check the beta newsgroups and
search for a @microsoft.com address (it's obvious which one!), or check an
email correspondance in your inbox and the email address will be there :o)

Well I requested a second key for this build and again the same problem,
refuses to activate.

Only problem at the moment I can't access the beta newsgroups. I've just
had to reset my password and for some reason it is not activating. But will
try the usual email address :)

Same here. I've tried with two different Connect keys. (I mistakenly
posted about the issue in vista.general, too.) The irritating thing is
that the OS installed with the first Connect key with no problem. So
why is it failing activation? I've sent in two bug reports but it would
really be nice to be able to solve this issue. I was looking forward to
working with this build but I'm not going to put any significant amount
of effort into an OS that locks me out in 14 days.

Thanks for any help/insight you guys have.

I'll give Wendy a ping and say you're emailing the alias - hopefully she'll
be able to shed some light onto the issue... but I don't really like
bridging the gap between the Beta and the Public NG's so... keep trying the
beta NG's for admin stuff like key requests ;o)

denied :(

Cheers Malke, exactly the same scenario and thoughts here! I've stopped
installing now and will do no more until I get activation!

Not a pressing issue for MS over the weekend. Working Key will be posted on Monday (On Connect with info as to where to pick up) apparently. I am stuck also and my contact at MS has verified the above.

This was stated in another newsgroup.
Microsoft is looking into it since it seems everyone has the same issue.
But since there are 30 days, activation now is not essential.
Also since it was Friday PM when this came up, the Microsoft person was
unsure if this would be resolved before Monday.

Personally, I avoid activating for a few days just in case there are other
issues forcing a reinstall.
