I just installed Vista on a separate hard drive on my HP DV9040us notebook with the custom install option.

I can boot to either OS (XP or Vista) with no problem and contrary to popular belief, I did not lose any restore points!  

The problem is that I now have two Windows Vista entries (below the one for the earlier operating system) on the screen.

The first one continues to Vista, while the second gives me the following error message: (excuse the boldness)

Windows failed to start.  This may be due to a hardware or software problem.
File: \windows\system32\winload.exe

Status: The selected entry could not be located because the application is missing or corrupt.

Is there a way to eliminate that second Vista entry from the boot screen? I tried going into msconfig but the boot.ini won't allow me to make any changes.
