I have an offical key from MS Connect which worked perfect during install.
When I try to activate I'm asked to supply a new key.
I guess I could go back to Connect and obtain another key but I'd like to
have some idea why this is happening.

This is a known issue. According to the Connect site this morning, this
is supposed to be fixed by Friday at the latest.
