Internet access is a pain after SP1

No matter what I've tried to solve it but internet  acces keeps failing
after SP1 is installled. I tested it on 2 different machines and the same
issue repeats on both.

Any suggestion?

I would uninstall the connection device. SP1 sometimes requires a reinstall
of drivers.

A device driver is not installed, or a hardware device does not function
correctly after you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1:
