Hi,

I'm running Vista Home Premium (6.0.6001--sp 1).  Since installing
Checkpoint VPN client, the Switch User option has disappeared from my
shutdown menu.  (I've since deinstalled the VPN.)  I've read elsewhere
that it might be a group-settings issue, and it can be toggled by
using the group administration panel.  This was for Vista Ultimate,
though; trying to run "gpedit.msc" fails with a "not found" error.

Is there another way to alter this?  Perhaps by hacking the registry?
My wife and I switch fairly often between our profiles, so I would
like to have the option.

Thanks,

Walter

Is it the option that has disappeared or has one of your users accounts
been deleted?  Might be an obvious suggestion on my part, but have you
gone into "Start - Control Panel - Users" to see if both of your
accounts are valid?

Both are active--there have always only been the two accounts.  It was
actually my wife who noticed the disappearance...

Hi Walter,

This tutorial may be able to help you restore Switch User.

Hi Walter,

Yes. You can remove the Registry-based Policy by deleting the HideFastUserSwitching value here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ System

See:
