Most of my Office 2003 icons, as well as some from other programs, are
blank white and go nowhere.  This includes many from Programs and Features
uninstall page.
I have tried using 'Detect and Repair' from Word, and get this error "This
patch could not be opened.  Verify..."  I also get this error when I try to
reinstall Office 2003 from the disk (real disk and valid product code).
I followed instructions fron internet, and downloaded Windows Install
Clean Up (msiucc2.exe).  I run this program, but NO programs are listed as
available to remove!
Any ideas?  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You should try System Restore.

Thanks, but this doesn't work either.  It has been quite a while since the
problems first started.  Is this a registry problem?  Somehow windows
installer doesn't have the different programs that have been loaded in the
right place?

You have some form of registry trouble. If you cannot find a backup copy to
restore, you will have to rebuild what you can from original media.
