Restarting after Hibenate I get the message alternatives  "Continue with
system resume".  Or  "Delete restoration data and procede to system boot
menu".

"Select and press enter".

Pressing enter has no effect.
I am unable to boot from CD or do a safe start because the options cannot be
selected.
I have tried a different keyboard.

I would try to borrow or buy a PS/2 keyboard.
