Vista's defragmenter has been on my computer since Vista was installed, but
recently I tried to defragment my drive, and got a message saying the
program wasn't installed. I think the first time I noticed its absence was
right after I replaced my hard drive. The instructions for installing it
don't make any sense, looking more like XP instructions than Vista. Any
suggestions how I can find and reinstall the Vista defragmenter?

launching Disk Defragmenter in Windows Vista:

John, that worked great. I wish all Vista problems were that easy to solve.

This one is free and faster too. Easier to use than the one that blog
listed. Will defrag selected files, all files and free space.

But they are, Vade...

Just replace that 5-year old PC with a newer, bigger, faster one, and
you will have far fewer "problems", which aren't caused by Vista,
anyway.
