Sidebar has recently started using 50% + CPU.  It runs from 0 to 50+ and back
to 0 and back to 50+ and just keeps doing this.  What would cause that?

Do you have the "Feed Headlines" gadget running?  If so,
it is checking and updating itself.

Any gadget which updates itself every few seconds or minutes will take a
toll on performance..

Any stupid Microsoft crap maybe. Takes 50% CPU? That's nuts. For
example I have a weather bug that constantly updates itself, I also
have a Internet monitor that shows performance relative to download
speed and a couple others real time gadgets. Guess what, all together
will all the other overhead CPU meter (another gadget) is showing just
2% used with a spike once in awhile to 18%.

Lets face it. When it comes to writing software, Microsoft sucks.

Just for fun I pulled up Task Manager. I went to the Processes tab,
sorted by highest memory use. No surprise what the hogs are:

iexploter.exe    51,144K
explorer.exe (1) 20,740K
explorer.exe (2) 12,200K
sidebar          11,508K

I repeat.. Microsoft doesn't have a clue HOW to write good, tight
memory efficient code. There own Task Manager confirms it.

ROTFLMAO!

When did you become a programmer? You no more know what you're talking
about than a man in the Moon. Man, you are pitiful just pitiful.

IMO the sidebar is a useless resource hog. I turned it off about 5
minutes after I installed Vista.
