I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit with SP1.  In order for Windows Media Center to
work with my Linksys DMA2100 Media Extender I MUST install Windows Update
KB938126.  Note that I checked the list of updates that is included in SP1
and 938126 is NOT part of SP1.

I looked in the list of Installed Updates under Windows Update in Control
Panel.  KB938126 in NOT in the list.

I downloaded the x64 version of KB938126 from Microsoft and ran it, it gives
me a message "this update does not apply to your system."

For grins I also downloaded the x86 version of update KB938126 and it also
says "this update does not apply to your system."

I also tried manually unpacking the download and then trying to install the
.CAB from the command line.  I didn't get any errors, but I still don't see
KB938126 in the list of INSTALLED UPDATES and my Media Extender still does
not work.

How do I get this update to install?

Yeah yeah  I can DOWNLOAD the patch just fine-  it just won't INSTALL!!!!

I have TWO Microsoft support issues open on this.  Issue SRX1068209466 the
technician sent me one email and now does not respond to my replies.   I have
sent him several emails over the last five days and he is ignoring my email.

I opened another issue, SRX1068609946.  So far the only suggestion they gave
me is to post to the newsgroups.  Oh, and check with the manufacturer of my
PC, as Microsoft does not support OEM Vista.  And this after I SPECIFICALLY
TOLD THEM IN MY REQUEST THAT IT IS A RETAIL COPY OF VISTA ULTIMATE INSTALLED
ON A DIY SYSTEM.

I am getting very frustrated.  I have had five Microsoft  support cases in
the last two months, and of these only ONE was resolved by the technician.
The other four, the techs just stopped responding after giving me general
advice like "search the KB."
