I use this way to download Youtube vids. I'm very happy to share with
you. Please also reply with your method.
The software I'm using is called moyea flv downloader. It is a
freeware.
Install and start the downloader.
You needn't get the url when downloading the vid.

Press "start recording".
Click in the page where the vid is playing.
The downloader will automatically save it to your hard drive.

Then you can watch it with the embeded flv player.

You can search "flv downloader" on google.com for more info.

Looking forward to your replies.

or you can download firefox!,
install greasemonkey,
install bettertube extention for greasemonkey,
go to video page,
click download video,
there you go, you don't even have to watch the video

I guess my biggest question would be: Why?  I've never seen anything on
YouTube I'd want to see again, much less download and archive.

Really? Nothing? Not even music videos? Download helper, with Firefox,
works fine for downloading videos. Of course, it helps if you have VLC
if you want to watch them.

I don't think I'd want to download anything from You Tube, Facebook,
MySpace or any other social networking website for that matter. They're full
of spyware and malware.
If you are going to continue to do this you should make sure you have a
good antivirus program and two or three good antispyware programs. You
should also configure your firewall to let you know what these downloads are
attempting to do and/or how they are attempting to change your system,
including monitoring your keystrokes and web browsing history.

YouTubeRobot.com today announces YouTube Robot 2.0, a tool that enables you to download video from YouTube.com onto your PC, convert it to various formats to watch it when you are on the road on mobile devices like mobile phone, iPod, iPhone, Pocket PC, PSP, or Zune.

YouTube Robot allows you to search for videos using keywords or browse video by category, author, channel, language, tags, etc. When you find something noteworthy, you can preview the video right in YouTube Robot and then download it onto the hard disk drive. The speed, at which you will be downloading, is very high: up to 5 times faster than other software when you download a single file and up to 4 times faster when you download multiple files at a time.

Manual download is not the only option with YouTube Robot. You may as well schedule the download and conversion tasks to be executed automatically, even when you are not around. Downloading is followed by conversion to the format of your choice and uploading videos to a mobile device (if needed). For example, you can plug in iPod, select the video, go to bed, and when you wake up next morning, your iPod will be ready to play new YouTube videos.
