Hi Everyone,
I have been reinstalling my Vista Premium system because of a hardware
issue. Everything is working well now, however a feature I wasn't aware of
before as showed up on my desktop.
In the quick launch box a new icon called "Swith between windows" is now
present, it is interesting a cute, but my problem is that whenever I minimize
a window now it disappears from the task bar and the only way to get back is
to go to the "Swith between windows" icon. I find this a bit
counterproductive. Is there any way to enable minimized windows to show in
the task bar?
Your help is appreciated.

I would try SFC. It sounds like a missing system file to me.
Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your prompt response, I appreciate it.
I did run the sfc /scannow command and afterwards I got the message that
"Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
Also I could not open or find a sfcdetails.txt file. Any other suggestions?

Looking at the registry entries for the taskbar may show you something.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Advanced
All I see is "TaskbarSizeMove" = 0
