I wouldn't put too much into that article, even though it did touch (no
pun intended) on some valid interface changes being brought about in W7.

I remember seing some early Alpha screenshots and demos of Longhorn
(Vista), and the final product looks NOTHING like what those demos did.

Personally, I think Microsoft will do better to not concentrate too
much on touch-screen support, and rather work on improving speech
recognition. Now there's a UI service I could get used to! Either way, I
think the mouse/keyboard combo will be with us for a long time still,
even well beyond whatever eventualy becomes Windows 8...

Can't touch type, eh? With Ubuntu, there's a program included in
Add/Remove that will help you learn that skill.

Get it at http://www.ubuntu.com/

Windows 7 makes Ubuntu look even more like the crippled OS that it is.
Ubuntu really really sucks.

Translation: Bill is too stupid to install Ubuntu so he lies about it.
Sour grapes, anyone?

I'm not lying about Ubuntu.  It really is crap.  Don't believe me?  Try it
for yourself.  Many people in this forum have already made their statements
regarding how screwed up Ubuntu is.  Do a search and you will see.  People
download Ubuntu thinking that it just might be the way to go.  Once they
install Ubuntu and investigate it, they realize what a piece of crap it is,
they remove it right away.

You just don't have a clue.

I have and am using it right now and it's wonderful. The 3D graphics rock.

Another lie.

My, my, Bill, you are sure in a lying mood today. Didn't take your Prozac?

Yep, really makes Vista suck.

MS-Windows for box, X-Windows for men.

*You* said windows & was Vista a moment ago.
Having memory problems?

X-Windows.. the triumph of development over design.

Me, I question touch screens, remember them with HP 150 PCs back in the
80's.  Dumb idiots would leave their finger prints on the things obscuring
vision.  It was a real PITA.

Yep, the Vista demo I saw seemed to show Win7 as Vista regurgitated.

If they make it so you must, many will opt out.  I don't think you average
monitor today can take a daily scrubbing of Windex to remove the finger
prints.  Fortunately there are alternatives.

Yep, don't see the mouse/keyboard going anywhere anytime soon.

There is no keyboard or mouse on the new OLPC machine in case you hadn't
noticed.
Just two screens, one being a touch screen.

So I  guess you are probably wrong.

I imagine a notebook with two 15.4 inch screens, one being multi-touch would
be very nice, as would a touch sensitive LCD screen the size of a desk,
sorry I meant as a desk.

You lack imagination, get out and try more stuff rather than sitting there
wondering if you will be able to get drivers for a multi-touch display.

The beginning of the end for that, then. Gimmicks never last.

And no body see's the problem with several million dollars of software spread
from one end of the planet to another becoming obsolete because a new OS
doesn't have a mouse ?

Guess not many recall the amount of hardware & software Vista made obsolete
just 2 years back. They even riled Adobe.

But why not get back to basics, needing $20,000 pencils to operate the paper.

Not gonna make it. Holding your arms out like that to operate a computer
will get old (and tired) really quickly. I wonder if W7 will come with
something to clean the monitor. From the article, it seems that Windows
7 will be Vista with some new eye candy. I'm so glad I found out about
Ubuntu.

Incredible.  You found Ubuntu.  Now how about going to
ubuntuforums.org and try to get those saps to migrate to Vista

Oh, I forgot.  You think that Ubuntu is the greatest thing since
sliced bread and you don't want to help those folks.  All you want to
do is continue to be a troll and spread your venom here in the vista
group.
