how do i stop my cursor from auto selecting a program every time i stop on
top of it?

It is a characteristic of the 'single-click' behavior you choose in Control
Panel/Folder Options.
"Single click to open an Item (point to select)"

Hi Ruilowteck,

As Mark posted, it is a feature of Single Click. You will need to use
the Double Click option instead to stop this and be able to select a
item by clicking on it once instead. This tutorial will show you how to
if needed.
