Start, type: gpedit.msc and hit enter.
Look at the settings in :
Computer Config/Admin Templ/Windows Components/Windows Installer/"Disable
Windows Installer"

Hi Nonny,
In the registry, it will be at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
In the right pane of Installer, right click on "DisableMSI" and click
Delete. Answer Yes and restart the computer to apply the changes.
Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi Nonny,
Yes, Vista Basic and Premium do not have gpedit.msc included.
Everything has to be done through the registry instead for those
editions.
If you do not have the "DisableMSI" value there, then this is not the
setting that is disabled.

Right, and what if they don't know the Edition. The reg entry is still
there, but the reg hack fails on Pros. Since they don't say, I wait for
follow-up.

Well if you managed to install it you must have changed policies afterwards.
