Someone please help!

I cannot move or delete files from my secondary hard drive anymore, I
managed the hard drive volume in windows vista  before I reformatted my
primary hard drive back to xp. Now, I am assuming all the permissions on
those files on my secondary hard drive are still there, so now I cannot
modify any of those files.

What should I do? I cant reformat my primary back to vista, what can I do to
reclaim or reset all the permissions
for the files in that drive.

Everytime I try to do something I get this

"access is denied"

"make sure the the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is
not in use"

I have check all those things
I even have third party application like 'unlocker' installed to make sure
no processes are using those files.

any help is appreciated!!

thanks in advance

Favian,

The "Access Denied" problem is there because the security permissions
on your secondary drive where set using the user accounts of your old
Windows installation. Now that you have formatted your primary drive and
re-installed Windows, all the user account identifiers related to those
security permissions have changed, hence the "Access Denied" errors. As
far has Windows is concerned, you don't have permission for view those
folders.

If you follow the tutorial
"http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/157304-folder-permissions.html" you
should at the very least be able to add your current user name to the
permissions list, and remove the now invalid identifiers as well.

Hope that works for you.
