I reinstalled xp pro on my Tosh Tecra 9000 with built in WiFi card. It worked
fine before the install. Now it sees my wireless network (and other wireless
networks at school and coffeeshops) but it won't connect to the internet. I
plugged in a direct line to my cable modem and it still won't connect to the
internet. This was not a SP2 install; this was a reinstall from my original
xp pro disks. I'm stumped (and bummed; my team lost in the NCAAs last night).

As you mentioned, you don't seem to be having a wireless-specific issue as
you indicated that even plugging in wire to your cable modem exhibits the
same problem.  Have you tried making sure it isn't a problem with your ISP ?
