red X in empty box-NO picture

Sometimes when I am supposed to receive a picture in OE, all I get are empty
boxes with a red X in the top left corner.

Sometimes when I do receive the "toon" or picture ok, I am unable to send
(Forward) it on to others.

A friend told me I needed to download MS Direct X, which I did, but it did
not help.

Any advice would be appreciated. Oh, I did check OE Options but couldn't see
anything of relevance in there.

most server's are blocking their images. best to have your friends
copy the image to theur hard drive and send that image as an insert or
attachment.
when i send an image,i use www.fotki.com to give iy a web url and then
send that link in the body of my post/e-mail.
