Windows Search Opens When i open a folder

okay, when i open any folder it opens the search results box, the default is set for search and i cannot find out where to change it back to open, open shows up on the list but its like way at the bottom it only does this on folder
the oem i bought windows from wont help me because i dont have that pc anymore (it started on fire) so i put xp on my new pc that i built, i called microsoft but they wouldnt help me on the toll number because it says oem yet the oem wont help me.
just a note: the email looks weird but its just so i dont get spammed its just a temporary forward
