After I did a system restore, I keep getting a Log on to
Windows box before I can go to view my desktop. I was
always able to view my desktop after booting up before.
Does anyone know the quick fix?

Quick fix? Log on.
A few more steps and you can setup autologon. You can use TweakUI for
XP to do this or a tool in Windows.

From within Windows:
Start> Run> control userpasswords2
Select the name of the account that you want automatically logged on.
Uncheck the box next to "Users must enter user name and password to
use the computer. If prompted, enter user name and password. Click OK.

NOTE: If you ever need to log on with a different account, press Shift
while Windows is loading to bring up the log on screen.

TweakUI is one of the Power toys for XP and can be configured to
perform the log on steps for you:

TweakUI v2.00 for Windows XP:
