Hi,

I would like to know how I bcan prevent a user from changing the resolution on a
XP and 2000 Pro system.

I have several computer, some with 2000 Pro and the rest with XP Home, available
for students to use, but I end up having to restore the screen resolution about
30 times a day, and so I would like to "freeze" the resolution.

BTW: they are use for Internet browsing and some word processing

Thank you in Advance

Merci a l'Avance

You can define a Group Policy which has the Settings tab disabled to prevent
a user from changing the screen resolution.  It can be applied to the Local
Computer or Active Directory.

Here is how to do it for Local Computer:
1.  Try running "gpedit.msc" from Start->Run.  If it starts, skip to step 9.
Otherwise, run "mmc /s".
2.  Use menu "File->Add/Remove Snap-in..."
3.  Click "Add..."
4.  Select Group Policy snap-in and "Add"
5.  Click "Finish"
6.  Click Close on "Add Standalone Snap-in"
7.  Click OK on "Add/Remove Snap-in".  This will add the Group Policy
snap-in to the Console Root.
8.  Open "Console Root\Local Computer Policy"
9.  Open "User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Display"
10.  In the right pane you will see "Hide Settings tab"; enable it.
