When attempting to run Update, message comes up saying
there is a problem checking for updates. Have done all
the suggested steps to no avail. Error message is
0x8DDD0004 - which I cannot find in Windows error list.
Any suggestions??? Thanks

Sorry, if this was one of the suggestions but you didn't specify the
suggested steps you've already tried.

Open Windows Explorer, go to Tools, select Folder Options, go to the View
tab, make sure all options to hide files and folders are unchecked and click
apply and ok.  Now, click the plus sign next to Windows in the folder list.
Click the plus sign next to System32, change the name of the CatRoot2 folder
to CatRoot2Old.  NOTE: this is not the CatRoot folder, if you see no
CatRoot2 folder, this is not the issue.  Open Control Panel, open System,
click Delete Cookies, Delete Files (accept the option to delete all offline
content) and click clear History.  Now reboot the system and try accessing
Windows Update again.
