Start with the Scanner's folder in Explorer. Look through that folder or
subfolder. Usually, when you scan a file, the software the scanner uses
asks you to save the file with a name, that dialog box should tell you to
where it is scanning the document. You can try scanning something and then
checking that dialog box to see if you can determine the default location.
You also might check the options of the scanner's software which also might
reveal the location. Sorry, all such software is different, I couldn't
possibly tell you where you might find those options but if you see for
example, Tools, in the toolbar of the application Window, that's a good
place to start looking for options and preferences.
Failing that, if you know the file extension of the scanned items, files
have a name, followed by a dot, the letters to the right of the dot are the
file extension, do a search in Windows Explorer for that extension and you
should find the location of the files.
As to AOL e-mail attachments, you will have to contact their tech support.

This assumes that your Canon scanner is a 1240U/lide30 and that the software
included is Arcsoft Photobase 3..
Unless you have changed the default file, scanned pictures go to 'MY
PICTURES'.. each scan is put in a dated folder..
