Is there a way to have Windows XP launch an application when a USB thumb
drive is plugged in?  I want to recognize the event and run my application.
If not, is there a way to monitor the USB port for a drive and recognize
when that happens?

TIA

TweakUI for XP can handle this.  Its in the My Computer, Autoplay, Handlers section.  You'll have to look at some of the examples to see how to construct your own handler.

TweakUI is available from

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp (SP1 and later systems)

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp (Pre SP1 systems)
