Hard drive took a dump, installed new one.Computer goes thru start up and
reads all hardware. CD for hard drive install took, but after boot I get a
message that NTLDR is missing, press cont, alt , delete to restart. It won't
read my start up CD or do anything further. How can I correct this? Thanks
in advance.

Windows XP setup is a two stage process.
The *first* stage boots from the XP CD where you begin the installation.
After the first reboot, the *second* stage continues the installation from
what has already been written to the hard drive. If you had to go into the
bios to make your computer boot from the CD, after the first reboot you will
have to go back into the bios to make your computer boot from the hard
drive. Even though you are booting from the hard drive at this point, you
still have to leave the CD in the tray until the setup has been completed.
Setup still pulls from the CD occasionally, even though you have now booted
from the hard drive.
If you initially entered setup by pressing the space bar to boot from the
CD, after the first reboot - DON'T press the space bar.

Do you have more than one HD?
I would try running the setup again and see if it takes, it might have just
hiccupped a bit. If it still doesn't take you may have received a bad
drive.
