I have a dual boot up computer setup. Windows 98 SE and Windows XP Pro. When I choose the XP OS I have been getting a error message after the loading bar that goes across the bottom of the screen about a missing or corrupted file system.log. It says I can repair it by choosing the r selection from my original XP disk. However when I try to do this it say I can not do it, because I have upgraded the XP OS with Service Pack 2. Is there any way to keep this from happening or to rebuild this file with out have to re-install XP pro from scratch. It sometimes takes several attenpts to get theOS to load properly. Harold A. This is not a good idea for future posts. Since you didn't quote the exact text of the error message, I can't give you specific repair steps. However, you need to make a slipstreamed XP install CD that includes Service Pack 2. It is very easy to do this. As far as your PC is concerned the operating system on the CD is older than that on your PC (service pack wise). The easiest thing to do is slipstream SP2 to your current XP CD. To create a slipstream you will need your original XP cd and a copy of the full SP2 service pack. if you don't have the CD of SP2 take a look at question 80 on my website. This will tell you how to download the full copy of SP2 from the Microsoft site.
