I want to turn off the option where everytime I rollover an icon with the
curser I see a box with the file's content. Can anyone advise?

Go to Control Panel and double click on Folder Options.
Click on the View tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Show pop-up
description for folders and desktop items".
Click OK.

Good luck
