Hi Folks!

I don't know if this is an operating system function or a function of
Internet Explorer but I can't find any setting in IE to do this.....

I recently had an ISP tech service my modem. This tech had to download an
installer and saved it to my desktop. Before this I always saved downloads
to My Documents. Now, everything gets saved to my desktop.

How do I change the save location back to My Documents?

Thanks!

Hello,

IE saves the last location folder you saved the file in.

Perform a download of any file, save the file in My Documents..

When you download another file again, the default should be My Documents.

Ok, I got it straightened out. Thanks!

Just to clarify my original post.......

When I downloaded something the save as dialog box didn't open. It just
automatically saved to my desktop.

Thanks!

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to the file type in question and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Check the box for "Confirm open after download".
