All of a sudden, even with the box labled, "Show icon in notification area
when connected" checked, I do not get the little icon showing up in my
taskbar. Any idea how I can get it back? Thanks for any help in advance.

This must be for Network Connections.
Do they appear if you click the little arrow (if present) next to the icons
in the system Tray?

Also,
Right click the taskbar > Properties
On the Taskbar tab, click Customize
What is the appropriate network connection set to? (i.e. always show, always
hide, hide when inactive)
