There's always one!

I tend to avoid workgroup setups so it's been a while since I had this -
but I THINK if you shut down ALL your computers (anything that CAN share
files on a Windows network), then the browse list SHOULD be reset.
Otherwise, be patient and they should just disappear on their own.

Have you tried restarting the server machine from a cold boot? Cold boot
means powered off, power cord disconnected, not just the computer switch
turned off, for at least 30 seconds, a minute or longer is better.
Power ALL computers OFF, remove power (pull the plug if you have to; don't
depend on the power switch; that's not always really "off").
Wait 30 seconds or more. Power on the Server machine. Let it fully boot.
Then:
Do a Restart of the server machine you just started. It's just insurance,
sort of a fail-safe action.
Now power on the other machines; the list should rebuild itself properly.
IME at least.
If it's GROUPS you have problems with, I believe those can be deleted. Or
renamed, whatever is needed. Remember, every machine needs a group, and the
same group, to be included IN a group.

That list should be getting rebuilt each time the computer starts, so if
there's nothing there to identify the missing machines, they shouldn't be
showing up.

Think I finally figured it out. The info is stored in the router, so
it's necessary to reload factory settings.
