Was working fine then tried to delete some files "write -protected" i can
open the files no prob, the read only box is not ticked and according to the
troubleshooter its working properly and i already tried updating the driver.
What else can I do?

What kind of flash drive is it?  Some of them can have physical write
protect switches on the drive itself, like Secure Digital cards.  If the
write protect switch is thrown, the drive itself will prevent attempts
to delete the files.  I strongly suspect you can't change them, either.

My memory stick came with file protection installed.  Give the stick's
website a look for the protection software.  SanDisk has such software.
