rename a external drive, usb drive

Hi      I am not able to see my usb drives or external hard drives,

i once had to put a different drive letter for the drive, but can not
remember or find how to do this.

ie change from e drive to q

In XP, one can right click on My Computer and go to Computer Management.  In
here, you'll find Disk Management.  That's where you can reassign drive
letters.  Just watch what you reassign!  Some of those drive letters may be
linked to install paths so if some application needs the disk for something
(Office is great for this) you may have trouble getting it use the new path.
