Windows Explorer Search Utility -- Recently Changed?

Whether using Win2k or WinXP, I've always set Windows
Explorer to work in "Classic" style.

I often use the search facility in WE to find files in
nested directories, and never had a problem.

But a few days ago, searching for some system files, I
wasn't finding anything!  Finally I discovered that the
"Advanced Options" box wasn't checked, and this controls
whether or not searching sub-directories is turned on.

I've never had to fuss with this before, but a few months
ago, I installed TweakUI for XP.  Could TweakUI be the
culprit?  Or is this something slipped into one of the
recent Security Updates?

I use TweakUI on each of my Windows XP boxes and they are all up-to-date
with patches.  I too check certain things in advanced for the searches...
Nothing has changed on any of my machines in the manner described here.

I have a similar problem in XP Explorer search. In the advanced options, the
Type of file drop-down list is missing the entry (All Files and Folders)
which the default selection. When opened the drop-down is blank and all file
types are included in the search. When the search finished, the drop-down
contains the first option in the list which is not (All Files and Folders)
but 3GPP Movie. I cant deselect this and have to close and reopen Explorer to
continue searching.
I have used CCleaner in the past and though that there may be a connection.
