I have just installed AVG 8.0 and I cannot send e-mails through Outlook
Express. Is this a AVG problem?

If you had a previous version of AVG, did you first uninstall it?

I just made the change from AVG 7.5 Free to AVG 8 Free and it made no
difference to being able to send mail.

Do you have AVG set to scan outgoing mail? Look in the Email Scanner
Component?

In Outlook Express when you send it will be generating an Error Report.
Can you please post a copy.

Hope  this helps.

When you installed did you allow email scanning to be auto-configured or
not? Maybe the email scanner is incorrectly configured. To test this you can
simply disable all email scanning if you wish, as many recommend anyway. If
your server requires a secure connection the email scanner configuration
must be done manually as per Grisoft's website instructions.

I would not install any AV program with its email scanning component. Too
many times AV email scanning leads to strange problems; and it offers no
additional protection over the native, memory resident "on access" component
of the AV program.
